Description

The AR gene encodes the Androgen Receptor. The expansion of a CAG triplet repeat (40-62 repeats) in exon 1 of the androgen receptor (AR) causes Kennedy’s disease, also known as bulbospinal muscular atrophy (BSMA). The expansion of less than 40 CAG triplet may be associated with spermatogenesis defects.
