Description
in A1202, A1434, A1433, A1457, A1441, A1432, A1440, A1436, A1437. MSH2 gene is involved in DNA mismatch repair (MMR) (Fishel et al. (1993, 1994)).MSH2 forms two different heterodimers: MutS alpha (MSH2-MSH6 heterodimer) and MutS beta (MSH2-MSH3 heterodimer) which binds to DNA mismatches thereby initiating DNA repair. Heterozygous mutations in the MSH2 gene result in hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer-1 (HNPCC1). Alteration of MSH2 is also involved in Muir-Torre syndrome (MRTES) and mismatch repair cancer syndrome (MMRCS).
