IRS1, Response to Metformin Treatment
Call to order - 01707 707 560.
Online order will be available soon.
Description
The incidence of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) among fertile women is estimated to be 5-10%. One of the symptoms in PCOS patients is the insulin resistance. Despite the role of insulin in the PCOS pathology has not yet been clarified, antihyperglycaemic drugs, such as Metformin, play a positive role in the treatment of PCOS. It has been demonstrated that the Gly972Arg variant of the IRS-1 gene (Insulin Receptor Substrate1) in heterozygous condition (G/A) reduces or delete the benefits of treatment with this drug. The test is indicated for PCOS patients before starting treatment with Metformin.
