Lead BMS, Haematology & Immunology
MSc, PhD
I am the Lead Biomedical Scientist for Immunology and Haematology at MB Healthcare where I have worked since its inception. I have been an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist since 2006.
I completed my MSc. in Clinical Immunology at Kings College London and my Ph.D. in Cell Biology at Exeter University where I won the Institute of Clinical Scientist Doctoral Student Award. My research interests lie in the area of Cellular Biology within which I have collaborated actively, and published on several research projects including the targeted translocation of mRNA, purification of biologically active, genetically tractable tubulin and the pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine profiles of end stage renal disease patients.
The two aspects of medical laboratory work which I really enjoy are hands on analysis where I employ a “back to basics” attitude, and staff training. I have served as a work-based learning tutor for the University of Westminster and aided many trainees in achieving their Registration and Specialist Portfolios.
The best part of my job is to make a difference to our end users – “as medical laboratory staff we have a huge impact on the lives of patients who may be feeling under the weather. We ensure they get the correct results day or night, to effectively and efficiently help in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease states.”
I may be seen walking (towards the pub?) with my husband and Shepsky puppy in the countryside around Hertfordshire.
